A proper sista -a thorough sista,
Not one of them all grown up, so conscious they’re un-conscious-
“We don’t need no man” sistas.
I’m looking for a real sista-
eyes the color of her mother’s-
hair the length that God made it-
pants/skirt one or another- not too tight/not too short.
I wanna “I don’t really need no makeup” sista.
A good mother/good wife/- a good-honey/lover/friend.
“I’m a strong Black woman” and mean it sista.
A career minded- my people- my race come first;
stand behind her man-
step out in front when necessary- balancing sista.
A sista who can balance her revolutionary other-
creating a tandem that will lead into the revolution.
An angelic- the skies opened and she floated down from Heaven-
wearing white– non-white– pious sista.
I’m looking for a pick up a book/newspaper- socially aware-
turn on the radio- sing that sweet song and dance that dance sista.
I’m looking for a damn good sista.
A sista who can trust in me like I trust in her.
A til death do us part sista.
A sista who understands the definition and difference of friendly and flirtatious-
and who can maintain, marital, mutual RESPECT.
A not too sassy- sassy when I wanna be- sassy when I should be sista.
A sista who will help solve, revolve, and evolve- with and around her man.
I’m looking for a damn good sista- what we used to call around the way-
that sista.
I wanna sista that’s like that- that’s all that.
I’m looking for a ghetto princess/suburban queen/country or Caribbean countess sista.
A sista who doesn’t curse, spit, or flatulate in the company of others.
A sista who is not a hoe, bitch, skank, dyke, slut, hoochie, car-hopper, or goldigger,
etc., etc., etc.
A sista who understands that no sentence should start off: “All men…”
And knows that I aint-
or never will be-
that man in your past;
your girlfriends man;
or that man on T.V.
A sista who knows there are monogamous,
non-masochistic,
non-misogynistic,
masculine in all since of the word masculinity- strong Black men out there.
A sweet sensitive, as well as sensual, sista.
A sista who will humbly admit, that “I like, love, and lust for you- as much as you for me.”
And “I want and enjoy our intimacy as much- if not more than you”.
I’m looking for a damn good sista.
A feminist/womanist/anti-sexist sista.
Who despite her radicalness knows that no matter what:
a woman is a woman and a man is a man,
and that a man will never be a woman-
and a woman will never be a man.
A sista who is neither traditional nor contemporary-
neither 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, or 90’s, but beyond the millennium- individualistic sista.
I’m looking for a sista that knows we are not free,
and knows her role in obtaining our freedom.
I’m looking for a standup/sit down; speak up/shut up;
handle her business- on key; on point; phenomenal sista.
I’m looking for a goal-orientated, team orientated- completing sista.
A sista that can complete me
